The reason we haven't turned into Australia is because responsible citizens have added to their gun collection.

why wouldn't a free democracy be paying attention to what is happening in another western free democracy?

All these millions of protestors globally must have an unhealthy obsession with freedom.

Just wait till elections start happening. First California. Then Canada. Then Germany.

The people will let their voices known and of course we should follow all these elections with robust forensic audits.

i mean...i feel relatively relaxed about the prospects that Australia, France, New Zealand, Japan, Taiwan, etc, will survive as healthy vibrant democracies

but you seem to think this is a dark spiral into tyranny (the paranoid mindset)

Japan and Germany will soon be holding free and fair elections (in which even low information voters will be encouraged to vote)

Macron will face the voters in seven months. I'm going to boldly predict this will be a free and fair election which may or may not result in the re-election of the tyrant.

I also predict when Australia will continue to hold free and fair elections (without body counts during the transition period between governments)

Asking citizens to behave in a responsible manner during a pandemic is entirely consistent with cherished liberties. We place all sorts of restrictions on things like driving (such as speed limits, not being inebriated). We have long mandated vaccines for a variety of diseases for school children and the military. Governors declare states of emergency and restrict travel and other activities as a routine matter during natural disasters. Responsible mature citizens don't equate acting in a socially responsible manner with tyranny.
