Agreed, there were people who spent the last 4+ years saying that the Trump campaigned colluded with the Russians.

People are certainly stupid.

What's your take on the great booster question.

I think the case for boosters is pretty marginal. The problem is there is a confounding variable, the emergence of delta in Israel coincided with the six month anniversary of a lot of the vaccinations. I think more data is needed to have an accurate evaluation of the extent to which protection from the vaccine wanes. The apparent reduction of protection may be mostly an artifact of the emergence of delta.

I also think it’s marginal at this point. I don’t think we should be setting any dates or lines in the sand as long as vaccinated people continue to avoid death and serious illness at such strong rates.

And I’d rather see the rest of the world get their first doses before other already protected people get their 3rd.

There is also the fact that all vaccines elicit a weaker immune response in old people. Not just the covid vaccines. You could make a case for frequent boosters of many vaccines for old people. It is not a straightforward call. My mother did not wait for the FDA. She already got her booster. Side effects were worse than from her first two shots. But one of her friends reported no side effects at all from her booster.

9 months ago you were screaming about a totalitarian coup subversion of democracy. Now it's stupid and paranoid to not trust the government about things they've intentionally lied about in the past as well during the current pandemic?

I view January 6 (and the Big Lie campaign associated with it) and the covid vaccines as very different matters. I know it is a controversial take. What can I say. Glad to see whataboutism and dubious equivalencies are alive and well.

I've known people who only flew an American flag in their yard when their guy was president, so I'm familiar with where you're coming from.
