Yeah people are foolish to write him off. Have they forgotten how good he was just 2 years ago?

Cousins looked just as bad as RG3 did last year if not worse but people think he's good for some stupid reason.

How good was RG3 really though? He played well but that doesn't make him a really good NFL QB.

Wilson is immensely overrated. Put him on a bad team and he'd probably be benched by now.

He won a SB and his BEST WR was Golden Tate.................

How about you put on a team with actual NFL WRs and he'd put up better numbers?

Would he still have the best defense and special teams in the NFL with those weapons?

RG3 was pretty damn special in his rookie season.

It's not like he was doing anything super complicated. Simple reads and progressions. The league catches up quickly. He needs to out-smart them every step of the way. I have my doubts.

I have hammered RG3 (mainly becuase I think Kaep is better long term) but this past year it was clear that RG3 wasn't healthy. I said since the end of the playoffs in 2013 that he should have sat all year. I felt bad for the guy this year. He could barely move. He was running at probably 75% speed than what he is accustomed to. As long as he heals up and finds his speed again he will be just fine. Part of what makes these new generation quarterbacks so good is that you can't play certain coverages against them or else they will gouge you for 10+ yard runs. Nobody was afraid of RG3 running last year and he saw coverages that he has never seen in his life.

Again, if he doesn't recover well then he is going to be a middling QB. I just believe that he will be back to almost 100% health and by a dynamic player again.

So you're saying any backup QB in the NFL would've won a SB with Seattle this year?

Wait a second....I never said Wilson was a bum. I do think he is becoming slightly overrated. I think he has a chance to be real good but if you read what the scouts have been saying, he isn't doing anything that would indicate he is more than an average QB right now. He benefits from playing on a team that doesn't need to score all that much and having one of the best running games in football.

Would you say his WRs and TEs are well below average?

As a group they are close to average maybe slightly worse. But you can't just improve that position and give him the same overall team. Teams put 7-8 guys in the box all the time and they still can't stop the running game of Seattle. Then Wilson has single coverage all day without blitzes because teams are afraid of overshooting gaps if they hand hte ball off.

Would you say 26th ranks as about average or well below average?

Philosophy comes into play when you are looking at aggregate yardage (if that is what you are looking at). Teams like the Seahawks/49ers want to keep the game low scoring because their defenses/special teams are so good.

Wait, did you just say Seattle and San Fran don't like scoring because their defenses are so good?

No, I'm saying that they play conservatively because as long as they win or are close to -1 on the turnover battle they typically will win games.

Only 5 starting QB's had a higher Y/A than Wilson this year, 3 if you take out Vick and McCown

When you are getting man defense on almost every play because so many guys are in the box to stop the run there are going to be plays down the field.

Wilson is a good young QB but I don't think he is this superstar yet.

Wilson is a great QB, working with inferior weapons outside of Lynch. I do like Tate as a 2, but he's been a 1 for Wilson pretty much his whole career. To kind of compare, imagine Kaepernick without Boldin and Crabtree. Still would have Davis, but would be way easier to tee off on just one.

Wilson was every bit as good as Kaepernick last year, with much worse weapons. True both were missing their 1 for most of the season, but I'd gladly take Boldin, Davis, garbage over Tate, Baldwin, Miller. Ranking those 6 on ability it goes

Davis
Boldin
Tate
Baldwin (really those 2 are kinda exchangable)
Miller
SF garbage receiver.

Of course that other SF receiver does have the unfortuante disadvantage of playing with one look Kaepernick. So odds are Kaepernick almost never even seriously considers him an option.

There's a difference between not scoring and playing conservatively. Ryan is a conservative QB. He makes safe reads unless he's down then he goes to make plays. Falcons pretty regularly score points.

Weird, because Foles is the only other QB with a top 5 running team in the top 5 for Y/A.

The Seahawks running game is considerably better and more feared than the 49ers. That matters. And, I have never said that at this time Kaep was better than Wilson. I have agreed that he is better than him right now. I still like Kaep long term though.
