The Coronavirus, not the beer

I’m a healthy person and vaccinated… COVID is rough… it’s kicking my ass pretty good

Hope you feel better soon.

I'm healthy and unvaccinated, and haven't worn a mask in a year outside of airplanes. I've yet to experience a single covid symptom since 2019. I'm considering getting an antibody test bc if it's as contagious as it seems, I find the odds of me not having been exposed to be nearly impossible

Some of our elite institutions have done a pretty good job with covid. It's a shame the country has not adopted a version of the multilayered approach (involving vaccines, testing and masking) that they have taken. It would have saved a lot of lives.

How many college kids are dying?

You said it would have saved a lot of lives. Are college kids dying in Florida?

Why is Florida's seats rate still so much better than the NE?

Why do you obsess over FL so much?

Kids in Florida are being hospitalized. Not many are dying. But it reflects the high rate of infection in the state, which HAS been killing Floridians to the tune of over 300 people per day.

And btw I did not say Yale's approach if adopted widely would save many college students' lives. I said it would save many lives. We are all grateful for your obtuseness.

Hmm... Florida's 7 day death rate has dropped 25% from week prior. And to my knowledge, they didn't kitchen sink it to allow that. It's almost as if... seasonality and vaccinations are the keys to the death numbers.

Texas hospitalizations plummeting as well... Weird because they aren't throwing the Yale kitchen sink at it.

And, it always strikes me how little value you put on quality of life of people in your tradeoff calculations. Our young people continue to get ****ed over because old scared losers like you insist they make continuous unnecessary sacrifices with no end in sight

Super strange... almost like the kitchen sink approach isn't useful for anything other than oppression

Since the lecturing buffoon has a habit of overlooking posts that have any positive news re: Florida, I'll post again.

How they hell did they pull this off without complete totalitarianism???

Every state and jurisdiction sees fluctuations up and down. I'm glad Florida is trending down. But overall, they have not done well. They have even managed the nifty feat of surpassing NY in covid deaths.

Get that vitamin D and zinc. Get up and walk around as much as possible!

Yeah I’ve been taking as many vitamins safely as I can. The loss of taste and smell is so bizarre. I can’t smell at all but I can at least taste whether something is salty or sweet but that’s about it.

Going for a walk down by the river later.

Vaccine rates are the key to unlocking easy at-home Covid tests in Australia due to what health officials say is a lower risk of positive cases spreading in the community.
Health Minister Greg Hunt on Monday said rapid tests could be approved for at-home use by Christmas.

The tests are already widely available for at-home use around the world, including in the UK and US where a positive result can be used to enter an event or venue.

Asked if the delay in the roll out of at-home tests until vaccination rates in Australia were higher was a deliberate strategy, Professor Skerritt said “correct”.

—————

Australia continues to cover itself in glory. Now deliberately slowing the roll out of a tool to help fight covid, apparently as part of a strategy to *checks notes* fight covid.

(Btw, I push back on the sentence in the article that these tests are “widely available” here in the states. They’re hard to get and more expensive than they should be because FDA.)

Also, from the article:

Rapid antigen testing is already being used in a number of settings across the country, such as in aged care homes and in some quarantine facilities.

But it is currently illegal to sell these tests to people for self-testing.

Smart! *rolls eyes*
