Around the League - 2021 Szn

Yeah, getting to draft a generational position player and pitcher in back to back years helps, as does moving into a brand new ballpark.

They’ve spent themselves into the cellar, and I hope the fans love staring at that flag while challenging the Marlins for last place.

I wonder if we’ll ever see that again. A team getting to draft two generational talents in back to back drafts. Those two might actually be the two most hyped pre-draft prospects of all-time.

Also won a flag that will fly forever.

I view the Nationals' run as nothing but a success. They had prolonged success and won a chip. It's literally all you want. They shouldn't have shelled out so many ****ty contracts to older players, especially pitchers, but it's hard to argue against their regime.

Don't they already have like two guys that play bat?

They'll need to spend alot of their money on pitching. Thor and Stro are FA's, could use some more bullpen pieces. Baez is a FA as well. But if the DH comes to fruition, they could trade Dom, and move Alonso to DH.

That being said, Braves get something done with him. If not, i guess we could move Riley to 1B, and sign a SS/3B. Only other decent 1B are Belt and Rizzo. Spotrac has FF's value at 5 years/137 mil, the AAV is fine there, it's the years that would concern me. But with Albies/Acuna's bargain deals, we can more than afford to do that especially with the DH happening in the NL long-term.

Something to keep a check on. Dodgers likely not winning the division this year. Would end their streak of 8 consecutive division titles. So it stops that threat from catching the Braves. However they will make the playoffs so it still counts for that streak which the Braves also hold for consecutive years of making the playoffs.

The way things are going I can't ever see a scenario the Dodgers don't make the playoffs.

I thought the same thing for the Yankees at the time but they ended up 1 year short of catching the Braves. Anything can happen but yeah they are a ****ing beast of a franchise right now.

Wainwright to start the WC game for the Cards. Most likely gonna be Scherzer for LA unless Giants collapse.

Dodgers are also chasing down another record. Most wins for a 2nd place team. That's held by the 1909 Cubs and 1942 Dodgers with 104. LA currently has 102 wins with 4 games to go.

LMAOOO Phillies struggling with dysfunctional culture in player development: Sources

I'm reminded of an old line from The West Wing: there's no amount of money, manpower or knowledge that can equal the person you're looking for being stupid. The Braves are a good organization, and it's so very helpful that the Mets are dysfunctional, the Phillies can't get out of their own way and the Nationals are facing a long, dark night of the soul that should last several years.

Don't forget about Cano - he's likely their DH next year if there's the universal DH. He's already making noises about playing again and being healthy so unless they want to keep him on the bench or are able to trade him or Alonso, I doubt they'll go after Freeman.

He's making legit cheddar too.
