The Obesity Thread

when I was a younger Braves fan I thought we should have approached the polio vaccine with more skepticism.

for instance --- sugar cubes ?
//////////////////////////////////////

we have been funding the scientific research for years that became this vaccine

Yep. We know a ton about how this works. This is the end of a 30 year road.

What's your definition of long term testing? How long does a drug or vaccine need to be tested before it can be rolled out?

I don't know but when a new technology (which very well may be fantastic long term) is introduced I'd like to see at the very least 5 years of studies before I'm comfortable putting it into my body when I have relatively zero risk from COVID.

Again - I brought my dad to get vaccinated. Math made sense for him.

that is where I was taught to shut up
not so much the I dont know

It is the " but"

you lose me at "the left"
////

I got my ear clapped a number of time for saying " I don't know BUT ..."

my guess is you came up in more "enlightened" times

Interesting. Do you keep up with preservatives or other chemicals put into food? There are technological breakthroughs there. What about GMOs?

Barking up the wrong tree.

I eat very well and care about what I put in my body and fortunately I’ve reach a level of success whereby my food budget is large.

why not answer the question instead of using meaningless generalities.
What does " I eat well " mean

your career success , bank account and SAT scores are well documented
thank you

I'd still wager there's a lot that goes into you that you don't fully know. Pesticides on plants, chemicals given to animals while they're being raised, etc. There's a lot that goes into you that doesn't make it on the label.

I'd also wager there was a lot more research that went into the safety of the Covid vaccine than went into a lot of what has gone into your body through what you eat.

It's more than that though. Do you go to restaurants and stores? Those places are regularly treated with pesticides to keep insects and rodents problems at bay. Do you live in an area with 5G? There's no long term study into what those signals do to you.

Basically what I'm getting at is a long term study of the Covid vaccine is an odd line to draw. We know what's in it. We know how long it stays in the body. We know what has happened to people after it has been given to them and cleared their system. We know more about it and have a better grip on its long term impacts than we do other things we encounter every day. So insisting on a long term study of it isn't really a intellectually consistent point.

You said we know a ton about this. I replied correctly aside from the impacts long term when given out on a mass scale.

That is undoubtedly true. What is also true is that we were told you just need two jabs and that has changed. The efficacy rates wane far faster than anyone said at first.

Breakthrough infections were supposed to be rare. They are not.

To pretend like we haven’t learned more about the vaccine since it’s been given to us is intellectually dishonest.

What else will we learn in six months?

Who is scared?

I’ve lived my life basically the same aside from idiotic masking in designated areas.

I was in Chinatown happily in late feb of 2020

The ones begging for a vaccine despite a 99.99% survival rate are the scared ones.

at the end of the day it is an ideological choice...some folks are simply pro-covid...it's as good an ideology as any

If our govt cared about health they'd be messaging this as the best solution.

But the govt doesn't care about public health

Not a peep man.

It’s pretty depressing. I’d wager 60% of our local town is obese and doesn't recognize any issue.

The info is out there readily. People just don’t want to see it.

Ruling class will continue to coddle until the populace can't survive without its helping hand.

Having a fat obedient population is the goal.

And products created with very little or no oversight by people mainly motivated only by profit.
