Braves Trivia

It has to be 2006 against the Dodgers then. I specifically remember them losing to the Nationals on Opening Night in 2008.

I am pretty sure it was against the Phillies... I just can't remember the year.

Yes, it was against the Phillies. That was in 2007 when the Braves swept the Phillies. That year started out great for the Braves, 24-12 through mid May and then the season went down the tubes and they finished in 3rd place with just 84 wins. Which I consider a bad year, considering they went 60-66 the rest of the way after that 24-12 start.

Since you got partial credit I'll let you ask the next question.

Hmmm, I don't really consider 2007 a bad year, although it was disappointing. We were still in the division hunt the last week of the season that year thanks to the Mets.

I had to do some research, but I was at that second game. It was really effin nasty. Kicker was opening day was the second and it was like 50 orr 60 and sunny. But a system moved through on the off day and that game was about 30 and raining. My brother and I had planned on going to opening day, but tickets sold out super fast, we went to try to get standing room tickets but th eline wrapped around a side of the stadium and figured there were way more than 250 people (or whatever the limit was) in line. So instead we just tailgated and had some fun. Wound up playing wiffle ball in the parking lot which is really hard to do when it's a 2 on 2 game.

SIde bar, IIRC Mac hit a homer in the 9th to tie it. It was fun being the only guy clapping in a section.

Yep. Phillies were up 2-0 in the 9th inning. Francoeur doubled and then McCann launched one. The Braves won it in the 11th on a Scott Thorman homerun. Opening day that year was the game where the Phillies were up 3-2 in the 8th inning and with 2 outs and 2 strikes Edgar Renteria launched one to straight away center that hit halfway up that brick wall out there. Then in the 11th inning Edgar launched another won to win the game 5-3.

Wasn't that a game where Renteria was supposed to sacrifice bunt and missed, then launched the HR?

Yep. KJ had just walked in that 11th inning and Edgar was trying to sacrifice him to set up Chipper and he couldn't get the bunt down and then he launched the homerun. Both of those homeruns were absolute bombs.

Sacrifice bunts are the devil.
