Braves trade for Joc Pederson

I'm curious how it all went down. Duvall was non-tendered on the Dec 2nd. Pederson signed with the Cubs on Jan 29th. Braves re-singed Ozuna on Feb 5th.

Not sure if at anytime they were trying to pair Duvall with Joc. With Ozuna saying at the time the Braves first reached out to him was the day he signed it leads me to believe he was the fall back option for Joc regardless of the DH situation being up in the air. They clearly had the money to do Duvall/Pederson if they wanted without signing Ozuna.

At the time, I prefer ozuna. Now, I wish we had gotten the platoon

When was the DH decision made? That played a part in this as well.

I'm not surprised they were in on Pederson. He seemed to be an almost perfect fit. I'm just not a Duvall guy. He would have been fine in a platoon with Pederson, but would we have been willing to pay him $5 million to $7 million to be a guy who was going to get 300 ABs?

This was always foggy, and nothing was ever official IIRC. This LA Times article mentioned the official decision that there wouldn't be a DH on February 8th.
