Hudson thinks he could be traded

MLB.com's Peter Gammons reports that Tim Hudson has told some former teammates that he thinks he could be traded.

The report comes out of nowhere, as Hudson is a big piece in the rotation of the NL East-leading Braves. Atlanta does have Brandon Beachy (elbow) possibly near a return, but it would certainly be a risk to deal Hudson. It's worth noting that Hudson was pushed back from Friday to Saturday, with the Braves not providing a reason. Gammons lists the Rangers, Red Sox and Giants as clubs that could have interest in the veteran righty.

As great as Huddy has been in the past, I 100% would field offers for him and ship him out for a good return.

It makes sense to trade either Maholm or Huddy. With that in mind it could just be because they want to give the older guy an extra days rest here and there.

W/o being asked, Hudson said there's no basis to @pgammo's recent tweet that said Hudson has told former teammates he thinks he'll be traded

I have mixed feelings on it but Wren has not been shy about exiting vets if he can improve the club (See Glav and Smoltz)

The difference was that both Glavine and Smoltz were coming off major injuries and there was no guarantee either of them would ever pitch in the majors again. Huddy has been healthy and pitching well aside for a couple bad starts in May and his last start. I just don't see the Braves trading him especially with this being the last year of his contract. The Braves are very loyal and I don't see them trading Huddy or McCann. Both deserve a chance to win a ring.

Why would Gammons make something up? He may have gotten some bad info, though.

Not sure it's a good idea to trade one of our SP's with the hope that Beachy can step right in and not miss a beat. He's already had one setback, very well could have another.

What a dumb idea. If Hudson DID say this, it might be a subtle request for a trade. Hope not, but I have a feeling working for Fredi makes Atlanta much less appealing, especially for pitchers and bench players.

Going back to my days covering the team for the Chatt. paper, Gammons had no pipeline to Braves info. Wrong most of the time, where Dave Nightengale got stuff right every time. Why I don't take Gammons tweets.

Yeah, I'm sure he wants off a first place team.

Whoa...I missed this completely.

Thats interesting. Whats more interesting is that Cody Martin is on Tim Hudson day of pitching. I wonder.....
