GDT 10/23/21 NLCS Game 6 Dodgers @ Braves: It’s Time

“I was looking for the guy, but I couldn’t remember his name," Snitker says. “So, finally I said, “What’s the reliever we used to bring over? You know, the one that struck everyone out. What’s that guy’s name again?"

“It’s been a journey," Matzek said. “There were some tough times, some dark times, but it makes what’s happening now even more special. You look at this team, and there’s a lot of guys who have been counted out."

Why were the Dodgers hitters so passive when the last game they looked like they knew what was coming on every pitch?

Wait, really?

One day this past week all MLB teams put out a message about anti bullying that was meant for the LGBTQ community. All but the Braves and Rangers mentioned LGBTQ as the focus. So Passan and Rosenthal called the Braves and Rangers out for it.

Eric O’Flaherty(great listen) on his podcast with DOB (bad listen) offered a very compelling case that Dodger hitters were (legally) stealing signs from second base. He referenced Bellinger swinging under Luke’s slider and, of course, starting his swing so early on Luke’s high fastball when he hit the homerun. He mentioned how teams devote a lot of film study going over signs, so this wouldn’t surprise me.

I mean:

While the Braves did not include ‘LGBTQ+’ in their tweet, they did link to glaad.org/spiritday, giving their social media followers the opportunity to educate themselves.

Feel like the Braves—as much rightful criticism as they receive—are in a way different boat than the Rangers here.
