Official 2022 Offseason Moves Thread

Keep Freeman, Rosario, Soler. And add a top notch RH bullpen arm. Braves have enough cheap starters than to waste money on one. Try to get Dansby and Fried on extensions. Riley probably wouldnt sign right now.

If you use the tared chips he makes sense. Has AA traded a legit prospect yet? His preference seems to be to let them play their way to ATL or wither on the vine and sell when their value is pretty much gone.

His pattern in Toronto was trading prospects for veterans, but he hasn't had the depth to do that in Atlanta to this point, largely because the international penalties hollowed out our lower minors.

I think we will sign a veteran arm for the rotation. We may see more "opener" games although that's clearly not the system Snitker prefers or in which he's that comfortable.

Moving on somewhat. The FA OF market looks kinda thin to me if you discount the 4 of ours. Should there be any interest in Conforto, Chris Taylor or Avisail Garcis? Garcis doesnt ring my bell but he is better than the average FA OFer.

Conforto had an off year in 2021, but I've always liked him. I don't know if he's held in such high regard that a one-year "prove it" deal would be considered an insult, but I'd run it by him and see.

He will definitely get paid but my question is Will it be the Braves to pay him? Im sure at his age 33 he will be looking at multiple years.

MLBTradeRumors has him at $9 million in arbitration. He could hit the market again at 34 and try to get multiple years, but if the Braves want him, they appear to control him for another year. As someone said above a CF that can lead the league in HR has value. I'm guessing that value is above a 1 year $9 million deal in arbitration, so i see no reason, why the Braves wouldn't keep him for another year. I think the more interesting question is whether the Braves would try to get him on a multi-year deal. He's due $7 million on his option. If he accepts the option, do you give him a player option at $7 million for 2023?

I think you've summed up the Duvall situation really well. At age 33, my guess is he's bucking for multiple years because it could be his last chance at an AAV > $10 MM per year and not have to worry about it for a year. I don't know if he'd get that. MLBtraderumours is pretty good at this, but I think Duvall showing that he can at least do a passable job in CF may kick the AAV up another $1 MM or so. I don't think getting Duvall back is crucial, but he does cover us in case Pache isn't ready and the presence of the DH would mitigate Duvall's OBP issues. Atlanta could be his best fit and Snitker loves him (and apparently so do his teammates).

So we will know the situation with Duvall pretty quick. A decision has to be made on his option by Nov 7th. That's also the day free agents can start signing with other teams. I would hope a FF extension is announced this weekend to avoid any shenanigans.

It’d be cool to announce it at the parade.

Honestly, I don't care about what we do this offseason. Whatever AA decides to do he has my full faith. He's earned it and then some.

Want Freeman to stick around. Let's bring Soler back. Let's sign a risky veteran starter.

Buster Posey is going to announce his retirement tomorrow at a press conference he has called.

Jackie Bradley Jr exercised his $9.5m player option and will return to the Brewers for 2022

Jurickson Profar also exercised his $6.5m option to remain with the Padres for 2022
