Preller wants rid of Hosmer and Myers. Padres sign Melvin. Bet Melvin is in Preller ear about bring in Olsen even if they have to pay the As to take back Hosmer.
I'm pretty sure you're right with the $12.1 million. I'd DFA him or try to trade him if anyone is interested (although I doubt that).

I think Duvall maybe sign a 2 year extension around 16.

I have the Braves at $100M-$110M depending on who they cut loose (I have them letting Camargo, Arcia, and RiRod go). I also have $17M for Ozuna on the books, but some or all of that salary might be freed up.
Assuming a $150M-$160M opening day payroll, that results in around $50M plus whatever they save from Ozuna. Any cash saved from Ozuna's suspension will have to be used to fill those DH PAs anyways, so that chunk of cash will be roughly a wash.
They have to fill 1B, 2 OF slots, 1 SP, and probably an impact RHP in the BP. At least 2 of those bats must be impact quality.
This is why handing Freeman upwards of $30M is going to be hard, as that leaves only $20M to fix the OF, add a couple arms, and fill the bench.

Are there any details if the Braves got reimbursement on Ozunas 2020 salary?

If RBI arent worth money then why keep them as a stat?
So Ozuna went on the DL on May 25th and then officially went on administrative leave on Sep 10th. I assume they would be able to get the injury insurance from those dates. Once he's officially suspended the Braves would be able to use whatever salary Ozuna would have got during his suspension for other areas on the payroll.

They should have gotten insurance money for time on the 60 day IL. The later time on the Admin leave has to be paid if I understand the current CBA.
When is this going to be sorted out?
If you have lets say 10m extra to spend then that changes the calculus.
But do those running arbitration hearings feel the same way? I doubt we take that route with Duvall though

No idea. Might be a blessing that this appears to be a slow offseason with the CBA stuff coming up.

Seems like I've read in the past that the arbiters lean towards traditional counting stats.
I'm pretty sure for luxury tax purposes that the 3 million buyout will count towards the 2022 season. However internally it could be worked out anyway they wanted. They could have calculated that 3 million into their internal payroll for the 2021 season.
Right, and the Braves already made the decision about allowing Duvall to go through arbitration last year when they non-tendered him. Probably due to the fact arb overvalues counting stats like RBI.
Are folks forgetting these facts already? Have they seriously allowed themselves to be fooled into thinking Duvall is a different player now? Do folks really think he has magically added underlying skills to make him a more viable CFer just because he spent some time there?
Where is this idea coming from that Duvall is more valuable now than he was exactly 1 year ago?

Didn't they do something like that with Markakis and Flowers after 2019, in order to keep the buyouts off the 2020 payroll?
