THEY DID IT

TBH- we needed this. It makes you so cynical. The payrolls outpacing ours, the stars getting traded, etc... just gets to be a LOT to get negative about. This was worth it. I'm so glad I took my family to Game 3. Playoff baseball is legit bonkers, and the whole thing went our way...its just amazing.

Anyone else here subscribe to The Athletic? Wish I could flip them the bird with all there know it all writers constant downplaying Braves chances. Think Ill file them away with all bloggers and cancel my subscription.

I think one of the unsung contributors of the season is Jesse Chavez. Didn't pitch much in high leverage situations, but he really helped solidify things in the wake of some unmercifully bad auditions (Jones, Edwards, Flaa, Tice), underperformance (particularly Shane Greene) and injuries. Was decent in the post-season and served as an opener against the Dodgers. I highly doubt he'll be back and there will be another stamp on his baseball passport come 2022. He's already played for 10 different teams--some of them twice (including two stints with the Braves)--and he always seems to do just enough to stick around.

It’s officially safe to say the Braves rebuild was and continues to be a success. Since 2018, one World Series title, four straight division titles and a strong 332-249 (22-14 in playoffs) record.

Chavez was huge. The pen didn’t feel solid until they got him in there. Guy throws strikes 24/7.

Needed AA to get us over the edge but the 'Old Guard' saved the franchise after Wren completely gutted it.

I thought we should sell. Said we were cursed.

So happy to be so wrong.

I thought we should sell after Acuna went down. But didnt think the Mets would collapse and Philly couldnt take advantage of their easy 2nd half schedule.

The Phillies were kind of the same team all throughout the season - just bleh. The Mets collapse really was the surprise. When we went 16-2, they went something like 3-13. It was crazy.

I remember Bobby Cox coming out to get him a few times. You could tell when Bobby was pissed at a pitcher.

Or at a player. I remember when Yunel Escobar cadillacked a flip to Troy Glaus and almost got his arm broken by the runner.

Camera flashed to Bobby and he was seething. Next day, Escobar was gone. He never said anything publicly, but it was pretty obvious.

Also the Andruw Jones moment, again a cadillacking problem. He was finding all these nice words to say about Andruw, but his tone and body language told you Andruw was on thin ice.
