Some Red State/Blue State Indicia

Remington Arms, the oldest gun manufacturer in the US moves from NY to Troup County Ga bringing 856 jobs

I wonder if we can buy direct from the factory now that it's in state. Maybe they'll have an outlet for discontinued models, or a scratch and dent store. Glock is right down the road from me but I don't buy guns without a safety, so I've never looked into it.

I'm visiting the Marietta area in mid January.

Where should I be going to look for homes in that area?

I’d look in Cumming if you want outside the perimeter or Brookhaven if your budget is big enough. The north GA area is fantastic if smaller towns appeal to you.

Others may can drop more info.

Ok - We are going to visit a few houses in Brookhaven.

If you've got any other areas like this within 20-30 miles of Atlanta let me know.

Not to turn you off, but I personally wouldn't look anywhere closer than Cartersville or Rome. If you're determined to be close to Marietta then maybe Woodstock or Acworth, but everything is becoming part of the city now. Definitely recommend staying north of town.

Of course coming from NYC it will likely seem positively rural to you. I'm more interested in one of those small mountain towns Tapate mentioned.

My wife is a makeup artist and has connections in film in Atlanta so despite not needing her salary its important for her to keep busy. It also makes her happy which the makes me happy.

So for that purpose we can't really be more than a hour outside of the city and with the traffic there that would probably be at most 30 miles away.

I live in a town of Western Nassau county. Effectively, I'm in Queens so very densely populated. I'm over it.

I have friends that love Fayetteville area south of Atl. It’s where some of the movie studios are. You can buy a house with acreage if you wanted but still be close enough to commute.

I always forget about Fayetteville. Tap is right, that's a nice spot. Also, some of the places that seem to be within driving distance can be deceptive. I'm roughly 30 miles from my office, but was spending over three hours per day in the car. Any commute to an office east of your home tacks on time for sunshine delays both ways, and some corporate areas are just hard to get into. Make a practice run at your typical commute time before buying anything.

Yeah - Thats her problem. :)

I'm only looking for fully remote rolls assuming my current company doesn't let me transition.

Gov, Lt. Gov, Senators, and all Congressional reps are Dems. So they voted for this.
