Around the League - 2021 Szn

That said, I think the combo of the chop, the tomahawk, Chief Nocahoma, and the name has just been way too much. Those other elements makes it clear in what way the term Braves is meant to be used in this context.

Honestly how do you survive actual challenges in your life if you're this upset about a ****ing word

Again, who gives a *uck what an Anglo-American has to say about the situation - no matter what angle they want to take?

The only opinion that matters here is the ones those with Native-American have - the rest are simply whining because they're not part of the discussion.

You want your opinion involved? Go find an ancestor that's a Native-American. Otherwise you're just another loud-mouth redneck.

Agreed! And people who have never played MBL or worked in an MLB front office should offer an opinion on MLB.

Instead, I'll have an opinion on whatever the **** I want and won't wait for permission from clvclv to offer it

Whitesplaining in full effect!

Please enlighten us as to how all marginalized groups should feel. Everyone is on the edge of their seats waiting to hear your profound worldly wisdom.

Ask any common Braves fan the origin of the name. They will tell you that it came from settlers’ admiration for Native American’s bravery. Right, wrong, indifferent, that’s the connotation with ‘Braves’ now. There is no savage imagery attached to the name itself.

Oh, I see. I misunderstood where you were coming from (or you misunderstood where I was, or both). I was talking about how Native Americans see the name. I don't see it as any particular intent from the fans, but this thing I love still hurts other people I love. It's a strange place to be.

Opposing something because of my heritage doesn't mean I'm upset. It just means I have an issue with it. I've been handling it fine for all these years that I've been rooting for this team. Doesn't mean I wouldn't like to see it change so people can move on.

Fair enough. Cheers

It was the correct call.

I always assumed it was a blown call. But if you watch it closely, you can make the argument that McKenry missed with the swipe tag, and only his body made contact with Lugo.

Either way I'm fine with it. The ratio of questionable calls that go against my teams to calls in their favor is somewhere in the neighborhood of 1,500 to 1, even if you count this as one that went my teams' way.

It was the correct call.

I still think he got his leg, but its way closer than I remember it being. I remember thinking it was clearly the worst call I have ever seen. Now I can at least see what Meals might have been thinking. I also think you can see him mouth 'you missed' to the catcher after he makes the call.

Mets offer Billy Eppler their GM role. A very Mets move to hire a guy who couldn't build a winner around the best player of this generation, even with Ohtani in the mix.

The Mets will still be the Mets, which is good to see.

They could very easily hire a high quality AGM from one of the premier front offices in baseball. I don’t buy for a second that there was a shortage of interest in that job.

I do not understand how you land on Eppler as the final answer, unless he’s said he’s fine working under Stearns next year and they want someone experienced to hold the reins for a year.

If I am the Mets Gm I try to work a trade with the Dodgers for Trevor Bauer. Call Cleveland for Ramirez and give Pete Alonso and some prospect. That team need a lot of work.

And what makes matters worse is that he's already a lame duck GM. They are waiting until next off season to hire a head of baseball operations, who could easily choose to hire his own guy. Such a joke organization.

Thor goes to the Angels on a 21M deal for one year. Not bad at all IMO. If we’d had a bit more money to play around with I would’ve done that
