Official 2022 Offseason Moves Thread

A 32 year old 3b at 6/180. How about this for thoughts? Corey Seager 10/300. Move Riley to 1b, Seager to 3d, Swanson stays thru 22. 2023 Move Seager to SS, Riley back to 3d, use Swanson money to find another 1b. Give Seager some opt outs in exchange for him forfeiting no-trade clause.

Heyman reporting the big issue in our negotiations with Freddie is the sixth year.

As it should be (and arguably even the fifth year).

At the end of the day, that's the penalty for not giving him the Goldschmidt deal when you had the chance - and with the expectation that the DH is coming and the potential fallout that could arise if he's allowed to leave things could easily be worse.

Just a situation where you're going to have to swallow hard and give the fans what they want - then cross your fingers and toes and hope it works out. If Alex packages a bunch of prospects and turns the core into one of the main contenders for the next 3-4 years, you make a couple more deep postseason runs and that revenue pays for it. Keep hitting pitching hard during drafts (particularly college arms) to keep a significant amount of depth there and there are plenty of reasons to be hopeful it would work.

When healthy, he’s unquestionably elite.

I guess I just can’t remember because he never seemed to be healthy. I know he had one season that was awesome. But I really can’t remember much else. I could go look but I guess I don’t care that much. 21 million seems hefty.
