Do I support releasing any and all people? No, but I suspect that Tlaib doesn’t actually support that either. I certainly think this is a case of not being careful enough with legislative proposals, but there is no way that Dems would pass a bill that let murderers go free.

Now, I certainly do support a vast majority of the reforms she is supporting. I think the prison population should be lowered enough that the government could make arrangements to house the leftover prisoners in existing state prisons or keep a fraction of the existing federal prisons. I also think the entire system needs to be burned down and rewritten from the ground up. Mass incarceration is a tremendous stain and burden on our nation, and we should be taking radical steps to fix it.

Wait, what? I think I basically said I prefer the Biden Admin to the Trump Admin, not that I approve of Biden.

Things I agree with include the expansion of the child tax credit, getting back into global initiatives to combat climate change, attempting to take a softer stance on immigration and rolling back some of the changes Trump made regarding certain social issues like transgender rights.

With that said, I’m far from satisfied with Biden’s term thus far, but honesty expected that would be the case. Not being Trump isn’t sufficient to be a good President, and I think that his Administration has made many of the same mistakes that every previous Administration has.
