Official 2022 Offseason Moves Thread

The confusing thing is that he keeps them in his trunk while he's driving all around the continent. He said something about liking to sleep next to them.

They're like a vampire's dirt. He has to sleep completely covered by them.

How are we going to afford to pay Kimbrel’s 16 million dollar salary? Did I just step into a Murph3 thread?

Your mother said she’d cover most of it. Despite his pedigree, he never struck out with her.

You guys having trouble reading? I clearly said I'd like to see Anthopoulos get involved "with a chunk of his contract paid down for a middling prospect". As in: Craig Kimbrel at one-year, $8m or less. Still a decent amount of elite upside in the arm, if the prospect cost is (as I said) middling.

But I'm all for using that cash on a viable starter instead. I don't think it'll be Gray, however, because his contract is too good, so he's going to cost a decent amount.

If the White Sox have to eat some money, they're probably going to want a somewhat substantial return given what they gave up.

Do we have any interest in Clint Frazier? Local boy, plays next year at 27, 2021 wOBA:xwOBA delta was fairly significant (0.24), BABIP down 80 points...he was crap in '21 but I don't think he's permanent crap. Defensive metrics aren't good but I don't fully trust that and they've been adequate before. Anyway, buddy's on waivers, maybe worth a claim. Post hype acquisition.

Likely an upgrade from Demeritte, but he'd probably be in the same situation of hitting the waiver wire again if and when we start signing FAs and need 40-man spaces. Has the same K problem as Demeritte.

They released him so we can just sign him outright now.

I’m not happy this morning . I’ve never seen such unprofessional behavior exhibited by a player’s agent.I guess words and promises don’t matter.

That is the Mets owner responding to Steven Matz signing with the Cardinals. Apparently, they were under the impression they would get a final call to match or beat an offer for him and they did not get it.

This is the second time this offseason, with Thor being the first....love the Mets misery.

Or maybe Matz would rather go to the Cards than the Mets. Same with Thor and Angels.

Make the best offer first

It's his team and he can do whatever he wants. But I don't see how Cohen's Twitter rants do anything to help the organization.

If I'm remembering correctly, we once got incredibly pissed at Rafael Furcal's agent, because we thought we had a deal to bring him back to Atlanta, and instead the agent used our signed offer sheet to go back to the Dodgers and extract more money from them. But without knowing any of the details in the Matz situation, my operating assumption is that Cohen is almost certainly full of ****.
