The Coronavirus, not the beer

Any suspicion as to their motives?

There can be different motives. If I had to guess, I'd say they think this organization is an anti vax organization portraying themselves as not taking a side. They don't want to waste the time and resources it would take to answer a request from antivaxers (whether they're antivaxers or not).

If there was something nefarious going on I can't imagine it could be defeated by a simple FOIA request. You'd have falsified data and the like.

Won’t stop zito from pushing more fear porn. Get that mask ready!

I sincerely hope that this variant causes a far milder illness. I'm not going to pin my hopes on it yet but I really hope it's the case.

This is how the pandemic will likely end. Covid is endemic now and I don't see it ever going away. Less severe versions and our immune systems getting more and more familiar with it leading to a new seasonal flu or even just a new nasty cold is a very likely future.

Nah can't imagine Trump doing anything he can't make a buck off of.

And if he was making a buck off of vaccination ...

At least Germany doesn't have a history of treating folks as second class citizens.

And at least we know the virus cannot penetrate that chain fence

The week of 11/07 (the most recent all of this data has been available), Vermont saw 2,582 confirmed Covid cases. Of those, 902 were fully vaccinated (the highest of any week) and 1,680 were not fully vaccinated (no data on partially vaccinated).

452,450 people are vaccinated in Vermont and 171,539 are not fully vaccinated.

So fully vaccinated people in Vermont contracted Covid the week of 11/07 at a rate of 199 per 100,000. Unvaccinated people in Vermont contracted Covid at a rate of 979 per 100,000.

In other words, unvaccinated/partially vaccinated people are about 4.9 times as likely to contract Covid in Vermont as vaccinated people. Virtually the same stat we're seeing everywhere else.

With all the talk of Vermont I'd like to remind people of some numbers I ran last week. Death numbers trail positive tests by weeks so we'd expect to see deaths spiking about now.

Vermont is highly vaccinated but there is still a significant portion not vaccinated. Covid is hitting that population significantly harder.

We are going to see more vaccine resistant mutations.

This is what you get when you go against decades of science and vaccinated healthy people.
