Race

This is really, really stupid. McConnell clearly meant to say all other Americans. There’s no reason to ascribe racism to this quote when the context makes it obvious what he was trying to say.

demand >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> supply

I still don’t agree with this sentiment. I just think it’s important not to willfully misrepresent an innocent verbal gaffe as explicit racism and think it undermines talk of actual racism.

Go ask your black friend what he thinks
Sheeesh

I don’t say this too often, but I don’t think it matters in this case. People are free to interpret things however they wish, and I’m not going to tell a black person how they should feel. However, I think Democrats would be better served going after Mitch McConnell for **** that isn’t a verbal gaffe.

Please note, the word I used was "ask"
tell --- tell ?

the phrase being bandied is " the quiet part out loud"

The issue is that context has to matter when you talk about saying the quiet part out loud. I say this as someone who holds McConnell in such low regard that just the mention of his name raises my blood pressure a little. But this comment simply wasn’t said in a context where the conclusion being drawn makes sense. There have been plenty of comments from prominent politicians one could point to that would fall under the category of dogwhistles or saying the quiet part out loud. Perhaps we could focus on those instead of attacking McConnell for missing the word ‘all’ or ‘other’ in a ****ing sentence.

I understand - You still believe what the TV is telling you about us.

No, I believe in my own convictions and feel we fundamentally disagree on more than I disagree with the Left on. I find it somewhat patronizing for you to claim that I’m being a sheep for holding a different viewpoint.

Your wild views of gender are destructive to society.

I hope at some point you will become more introspective and realize how wrong you are on that.

But yes - You have repeatedly regurgitated talking points of the Pravda. I watch these shows from time to time to understand how some of you will react.

As i said to sturg yesterday I dont think Mitch much cares about anything but Mitch.

This was off of the tone deaf chart. He has now had 2 days to clarify or at the least a (R) stand up and say but not a word.
Shoot at least trot out Tim Scott
My twitter/facebook feeds are filled with person after person pictured with the caption of I am an American.
Some in uniform, some with family under the Christmas tree etc etc etc.
To not correct this is probably more damning than what he said
The context?
This was said after the vote that killed the John Lewis bill.

Please take a couple minutes and listen to Sen Klobuchar's statements posted by gold in the Republican Voter Suppression thread
I have no idea how to cross quote.

I haven’t watched a news program since the election. But amazingly some of those talking points come from real world opinions on these topics. Some of these opinions are ones I also share.
