If the U.S. doesn't occupy Japan's attention during WWII the allies wouldn't be able to hold off against both Imperial Japan and Germany. Even Russia is ****ed.
Yeah, but I think the question is how much longer the US would have been able to plug its ears and ignore the rising Axis threat. Pearl Harbor hastened our entry into the conflict, but I think it was inevitable. Japan taking the kind of action you refer to here would likely have sped up the process as well.
