Why are you equating brand value with intelligence?
Why not? She built it.

I don't think that "building brand value" requires intelligence—or, if it does, it's not species of intelligence I value (or that I think society should value).
We're talking about politics, don't forget. These characters sink or swim on the basis of their brand.
Mitt Romney was decently intelligent, and filthy rich, yet could not control his brand despite obsessing over it for 5+ years.
A politician needs to be deft and calculated to 'command the brand' -- two assets, among others, that I believe are derived from intellect.
Sarah Palin's intellectual merits go well beyond her brand, in any event.
I'm much more interested in the broad equivalencies you are drawing than I am in any specifics regarding Sarah Palin's intellect.
Ugh: this whole series of sentences represents to a large degree what is wrong with government—at least on the national level—in the US.
In the words of Craig David: "Can you fill me in?"
If you are referring to what I think you are, I don't see how those equivalencies are 'broad' in any way.
I see her smarts exhibited through her ability to have survived 2008 and its aftermath. And to still have enough relevance to go around over half a decade later. Her brand is extremely valuable.

Bits like these are what I meant:
The constant barbs being dropped that question her intelligence are extremely disrespectful and predictably sexist
Umm... I don't think so.

I agree that there have been too many words wasted on Sarah Palin in this thread, but I think it is in response to her being proffered as someone whose opinion about the Ukraine--or any matter of public policy, really--is worth hearing.
haha
What I find annoying is the spin most of you on the left of this board put on this. And 57 is particularly irksome - course he always is to me. Gets under the skin. Makes it far easier for me to not post for several days.
Suffice it to say, my bringing up Palin's correct sentiment on Ukraine was not to offer that as testimony that her foreign policy views were worth hearing, but rather as testimony of how so many of you can never admit when someone you have denigrated may have been right on a matter where you were wrong.
But carry on...
Bedell proves people are assholes. Now, back to the Ukraine.

You worked them into a pretty good frenzy.
So you guys illustrate that others are condescending ... by being condescending?
It all just seems very ouroboros to me.
