Official 2022 Offseason Moves Thread

Would seem to be more evidence that they overplayed their hand and are now having to settle. Disappointing that the Braves couldn’t wait, but I think they did the right thing.

How? If they waited they could have had Freeman and all those prospects they traded to get Olson to overwhelm Pittsburgh to trade Reynolds. Maybe Freeman just wanted to be in California, but it's also possible we just unnecessarily dumped a bunch of prospects when we could have waited it out and signed Freeman the whole time.

Or missed on FF and Olson

Or we could’ve been without both of them. And now we have the younger, better 1B.

I’m also certain that if the Braves could’ve gotten Reynolds for that package, then they would’ve already done it, and then worry about filling 1B with Rizzo or something if Freeman didn’t sign.

I mean, if Freeman's highest priority was getting six years, and we weren't offering it, and he ends up getting six years from a perpetual contender with the strongest roster in baseball that happens to be located in the region where he's from, it's kind of hard to see this as some kind of failure for him and his team. I know this board has decided it now hates Freddie Freeman and wants to see him publicly humiliated, but you might be letting that desire get the best of you.

He goes to the Rays or Jay's, I'm cool. He goes to the friggin Dodgers, I will pray for his failure as long as he wears that accursed uniform.

Who hates Freeman? We have an entire thread dedicated to appreciating pinned at the top of this page.

And I think the failure comes from the fact that he’s going to sign for the same total money or less than what the Braves were offering. So, yeah, in that regard Freeman’s camp failed him.
