Smart move to trade him. Falcons should be bad enough to get one of the top QB's in 23 if they dont pick one in the upcoming draft. I think they should have gotten a better return however.

They had zero leverage, unfortunately. The front office is so reactive.

I can’t imagine a worse 5 year run for a franchise since 28-3.

There’s no better owner in sports than Arthur Blank and the degree by which incompetence has infected that organization is incredible. I think they made all the right hires, signed the right players, invested in the right people and it didn’t matter.

The best thing for the Falcons is to completely bottom out and remove every remembrance of 2016.

I don't have much hope for Arthur Smith either.

Smith was a good OC. The Titans were definitely more innovative on offense while he was here. Of course good OCs don't always make good HCs, but I think there is hope there if you can bring in the right QB. The problem with the Falcons is that they are bad basically everywhere.

They better wait a year. This year's crop of QBs is pretty mediocre. Almost draft day and we still don't have any clue as to whether a QB is going to even go in the top 10, much less top 5.

I like Smith the coach. It’s impossible to evaluate a first year head coach with a roster that thin. I think the Falcons over performed their point differential more than any other team.

TD and Quinn I felt were competent even though their effectiveness had waned. It might have been time to try for some new blood but the guys they got are serious downgrades.

I like Smith the OC. I don't like Smith the HC.

I also think both the front office and Smith were on board in drafting Pitts. I think both were operating under the same delusion that the team could compete with a few tweaks. That doesn't bode well.

So which qb is ATL looking to get in the ‘23 draft?

Stroud and Bryce are the top 2 in 23. Their roster is too bad to reach on one this year.

I am happy Matt Ryan gets to play for a contender for the first time in his career. I also think Mariota can be a serviceable QB if he doesn't get hurt.

Their roster was too bad to draft a TE last year.

I think the best move was trading down but not sure anyone was willing to go up. Rumored Detroit did but idk what they were offering. TBD on passing on Fields and Mac though.

I don't think the Falcons really made much effort to trade down. They were apparently pretty set on drafting Pitts if he was available. I honestly think the new powers that be with the Falcons thought they could compete really quickly.

I mean there's a flaw with drafting BPA. Pitts is a once in a generation talent. Falcons went for that. Pitts was probably the best draft prospect in the draft. And with the only 3 QBs worth taking off the board 1-2-3 drafting a QB would have been dumb. I'd rather have Pitts than say trade down and tkae Mac Jones or Josh Fields.

Jamaar Chase was possibly the best WR prospect since Julio. I said at the time they should have taken Chase as Julio's replacement. And he was an AP as a rookie, so looks like I was right.
