First why do conservatives rail on about cancel culture and you can't make jokes like you used to. But then bitch about stuff like this? You can't have it both ways you babies.

Second, when you make the mayors joke a fact by acting like a bunch of white snowflakes, how does that not make everything even funnier?

That’s actually a super easy answer. The Right doesn’t actually care about cancel culture, they just don’t like it when they’re the ones being cancelled and are good at their messaging about it when it affects them.

Nah, that just isn’t accurate. There has always been a power struggle between the two sides, and holding certain beliefs always put you at risk of having your life ruined. Just look at McCarthyism or the antics of the FBI during the civil rights movement.

Or being gay. How many people have been excluded from Thanksgiving dinner due to being gay over the years. We can count as progress that this is much less prevalent, but the phenomenon hasn't disappeared either.

Cancel culture is as old as time itself. Only the reason changes. Used to be bring an atheist meant getting canceled. Believing there nothing wrong with interracial marriage..... being against slavery..... being against war.....

Cancel culture was the central theme of one of the first great American novels, published in 1850. Back then it went by other names. Ostracism, shunning, shaming, social stigmatizing and so forth. I have a tendency to blame puritanism and prudishness for most of what ails us and I'm gonna stick to my guns on that one.
