Video Game Thread: Atari vs. Commodore Debate...

I mean they're basically getting up to par with PS+ and XBL. Back in the day XBL was worth it because they hosted servers. Now it's just a way to get some free games and play online.

We don't know the cost, but assume it's like 10 bucks more. That would still be a solid deal overall IMO.
 
I'm enjoying it so far. Probably only 50% or so through it. Just got the Grapple Beam. Still trying to really time out the counter for EMMIs I"ve done it like 3 times. But they're frustrating to me. Also I struggled in the Kraid fight because I had limited health like a fool.
 
Dread is definitely one of the harder Nintendo published games I have ever played. Some of the bosses are really punishing, like the Kraid fight you mentioned.
 
So I beat Dread finally. TOok like a week off because of work wiping me out and my other time being spent catching up on **** (Critical Role coming back is a huge time sink for me) but it was fun. Next up I'm going to try and beat hard mode, then I'm going to try and 100% the game.
 
Got a PS5 about a month ago. Because of leaving to see my family and **** haven't had much time to play but so far digging Spiderman Miles Morales. After I bang it out I'm going for Ghost of Tsushima.
 
Microsoft has purchased Activison Blizzard. That's definitely a way to boost their PC Game Pass subscriber count
 
Now the question is, will we get a Microsoft Studios Brawler game?

Possibly. From Blizzards side I just hope it means better products from WOW and Diablo. With a hopefully bigger team behind them now I would love to see more entries from the Starcraft franchise and Warcraft besides just WOW. And please roll the WOW subscription into Game Pass.

Microsoft has really gobbled up a lot of big name IPs the last few years. But yes I could see something like this being planned and selling well.

As a free to game pass exclusive too. Would make almost too much sense. Start with like 12 characters and release a new one every quarter.

I hope for OW2 coming out as promised. I loved the idea of OW2 but it's stuck in development hell.
 
Elden Ring is very good. Probably the best game I have played since Breath of the Wild. Anybody else here been playing?

Yeah, I'm miserable at the game but I love games like it. I had to rage quit a bit last night after I lost 5K runes and nearly a level up falling off a ledge when I hit dodge instead of use. Just take a day off and grind at it for a few hours. I also like that you're not really locked into an area. I got made at Stromveil castle so i left it and just explored the world a bit. I'll go back. I just needed a break from that castle as I was struggling to find Sites of Grace after the second one.

I am in the middle of a move so my PC has been unavailable. I made it quite far into the game. Like Breath of the Wild you have to really try to savor exploration and discovery as much as possible, but it’s hard to put down. I think the beginning of the game is legitimately brutal but like most RPG’s the difficulty becomes trivial once you are over leveled.

Excited to jump back into it next week once our move is finished.

Yeah I'm hitting some frustrating bits right now. Mainly with one boss battle. But I will just do what I did last time and go out and explore a bit, get some more items and runes and level up and more importantly stock up on important consumables.

I heard Apple was gonna get EA. Must be a big bid.

Disney makes sense as they're IP hunting. But EA IPs suck. They have some rock solid game franchises, but for actual quality IPs it's lame. It would have been much better to buy Blizzard/Activision.

What's gonna be wild and we'll see probably in the next few years is Apple, Google, Amazon or Disney buying out Nintendo and all the parts of the Pokemon Company because no one has better IPs than Nintendo and consolidating the POkemon company would be ideal. I feel like what makes sense if APple to buy EA and Disney to buy Nintendo and Amazon to buy Sega.
