Is Free Speech Under Attack in this Country?

But there is a good discussion to be had (hope springs eternal that such a thing is possible on these boards) about what constitutes speech that is threatening and bullying and inciteful of violence. And also who gets to decide when speech strays over these boundaries. The social media companies themselves? the courts? or some quasi-independent group that the social media companies appoint?

Instead what we get is **** instagram. Tis a shame.

He can speak for himself about the decision Instagram made with respect to Kanye.

I'm kind of curious if he has anything more to say than **** Instagram.

It is the kind of hard case that requires nuance and subtlety to discuss intelligently.

And I don't much care.

Facebook and Twitter have proven over and over that they do not support the right to speak freely. As has nsacpi when he enthusiastically supported twitter censoring the NY Post for reporting the truth

Why do you suppose twitter suspends accounts like defiant Ls and libs of tiktok, when all they do is post public tweets/videos of people?

Why isn't it a big deal? Why isn't it a big deal that they suspended a major newspaper bc they reported a factually accurate story?

Do you think these moves are creating a society of free speech?

It's great to see the proliferation of other networks like Gab and Truth Social. Some will be more lightly moderated than others.

It is interesting that on our own boards various posters have been banned or suspended, and threads locked. Tyranny of the first order!!
