To be clear, this does not harm the teaching of math in any way. It doesn’t add to it, but this isn’t a reason we’re falling behind in math, since you have to do the math to get the answer right.

Making this about anything other than Math takes away from the MATH.

I'm more concerned they're using multiple choice to get the right answer for a math problem instead of working it out. They didn't do that in my day.

Have you stopped to think that maybe we’ve done word stories and such for a reason? That maybe connecting the math to other things like a story helps build the connection in the student’s mind? I agree that story doesn’t need to be about that, but there’s a reason the tactic is used.

I got my degree in Math mqt.

I know how to learn it and I know how to teach it.

Because its so outlandish that it takes away from the actual content being taught.

The actual inclusion of such 'random' words is deliberate and intentional.

All of this in young minds where none of it should be planted.

whatever florida wants to do with that, is up to them. i don't care

as i stated the first time, i'd find it funny if they ****ed up their golden goose for the amount of money they bring to that state and helps lead to the not having state taxes etc etc
