Texas elementary school shooting…

For nearly 50 minutes, children repeatedly called 911, pleading for help as a gunman terrorized them while a phalanx of officers waited outside their classrooms, Texas law enforcement acknowledged for the first time Friday, four days after the massacre of 21 people.

The explanation of the slow response to Tuesday’s mass shooting at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Tex., comes after state officials have offered contradictory and partial accounts of what happened in the days since to the frustration of parents. Officials now say the commander on the scene made a mistake by deciding the gunman had shifted from an active shooter to a “barricaded subject,” so they made no efforts to break down the door and get inside.

“Of course, with the benefit of hindsight … it was the wrong decision. Period,” Texas Department of Public Safety Director Steven C. McCraw said during a news conference.

On Friday, Abbott said he was “misled” when he praised police earlier, now saying he is “livid about what happened" and would call for investigations into the response to the shooting.

People want to arm teachers and expect them to be brave.

The actual people trained to protect and serve ended up being cowards themselves.

Arming teachers would be the absolute worst mistake anyone interested in child safety or gun rights could make. The first time some Letorneau type loses it and blazes away at her own class, we'll see anger as universal as it was after 9/11.

Enough armed conflict between teachers and students without introducing guns into the mix.

From what I gather this is the timeline of events. Why can I find nowhere anyone asking who this teacher is that let this asshole in. A million times more responsible than Scot Peterson in Parkland. Prison might be the safest place for this person. How about 574 counts of felony child endangerment.

thankfully most school shooters are incompetent. Nothing we can do to prevent these.......... Iwonder how many he kills with an Ar-15 compared to a shotgun.

says anyone who thinks background checks are better than mental health care is wrong. In April, Abbott slashed mental health care by $211,000,000, and Texas ranks 50th in access to mental health care.

So tired of “well, he still hasn’t done anything actually wrong yet” mentality to **** like this from cops and lawmakers and da etc

This type of **** shouldn’t be allowed to happen. It’s crossed a line from “free speech” etc into criminal against someone
