According to BBRef, in the last 100 seasons, among first basemen with at least 2500 plate appearances (146 individuals), Keith Hernandez leads all first basemen in DWar.

That's not a surprise as Hernandez is widely reputed to have been an outstanding defensive first baseman.

But do you know who is second?

Matt Olson.

For comparison purposes, the current Dodger first baseman is ranked 106th.

Olson is the best first baseman playing. Rational people know this. Thank you for posting !

He hasn't played that way this year.

Olson's Offense has been better than he's had credit for so far. I think his Defense has been worse. Surprised by that.

I don't think he's bad. I still see the stats and he's impactful. And that deal wasn't done with this year in mind, it was done for years 2025 plus as FF gets older. It was to protect the long term years while not giving up too much in year 1-3. I think he's holding his end up, for the most part.
