Texas elementary school shooting…

But I thought you hated leftists for their lowdown tactics? Besides this wasn't a slam against you or any other person on this forum, only Poso. Surely you aren't taking his approach (or theirs) are you?

I don't give a **** anymore about using leftist tactics against them

No.

I believe the left has driven a society full of weak men... and this is yet another example of where weak men stood down

I actually agree with the first 1/2 of your statement, but I do not believe that was why they "stood down". There are pussies out there now, there were pussies out there 100 years ago, 1000 years ago and so on.

in the face of these pussies not standing up to protect children... the government is now insisting that we give up more rights to our own weapons... i guess because the government will protect us

All pro-2nd amendment supporters (which I am by the way) have to do is to point to what happened at Uvalde. Anyone who thinks even a really good government will protect them from stuff like this is beyond deluded.

It would be a good idea though for pro 2nd amendment people to actually stand up and demand that something be done about nutjobs being able to get these guns and enter places they should never be allowed to attack. Now is the time for someone to actually come up with some good ideas that fix things rather than just line up on opposite sides of the playground and flip each other off. Of course that's how the far left and the far right keep their people under control.

he's been a fraud for a long time

i've told you it for years

but he embraces being a fraud and became a radical while being one when thethe disappeared after trump lost

what is going on with this story... it keeps getting worse. what is a plausible explanation for all of this?

I have a hard time believing a police department is that bad at “policing”

Astounding

It does boggle the mind, doesn't it? This should be totally unacceptable anywhere but the fact that it happened in TX just makes it all that much more beyond belief. I've lived in TX in my younger years and there are lot of really good people who live in TX. I am thinking/hoping that they're still in a state of shock and that's why they haven't broken out the torches and pitchforks to do something about this situation. I still think they will, but what if they don't? What if they just let this go? I really don't want to even consider that possibility.

I’m generally a supporter of the police, but more and more I’m beginning to think of these departments as bureaucrats with guns, suffering from the same shortcomings we get from our mediocre (on their best days) government agencies up and down the national/state/local levels.

Government incompetence is a much simpler answer than a loss of “toxic masculinity,” IMO.

only the dumbest this country has to offer thinks it has to do with pussification/loss of toxic masculinity (fun stupid buzz words though)

Could happen anywhere. I generally have a positive view of Texas. Formed in part by a road trip about ten years ago. The contrast driving through New Mexico and Texas was striking. Texas just seemed to be a more orderly and prosperous place. But Uvalde is a test. They need to have the courage to air the whole truth about what happened, as embarrassing and dismaying as it might be.

Pretty much every interaction I've had with cops and ex cops has convinced me they don't do their jobs very well. It's not an easy profession. That goes without saying. But generally speaking they are not an impressive group.

Oh it's definitely a test. We're just so damn tribal now I am not confident how it will play out. We're so divided as a nation that millions of Americans will defend or condemn anything as long as it makes "their side" look better and "that other side" look worse. My neighbor is an older guy, like 83 or 84 and I was asking him about this Uvalde thing right after it happened and to my utter shock he said he had watched the press conference and the lead LEO down there said something along the lines of "Oh it's a terrible tragedy but I didn't know how to handle it because I've never been trained for something like this". My neighbor who is a very right-leaning guy was totally OK with this explanation. I couldn't believe it. I told him "this cannot be OK, we cannot tolerate something like this happening" and he just changed the subject. The bottom of my chin is still scraped from my jaw gaping open so much it hit the ground.

On the whole toxic masculinity thing, I think it got started because a lot of women were tired of being bullied, abused, etc., which I totally understand, but I saw a thing somewhere a while back that I think explains it pretty well. The person making this comment said that the men who had bullied/abused women or just other men/children weren't strong men at all. They were really weak men trying to cover for what they knew was their own weakness. They went on to say that it wasn't too much testosterone or too much masculinity causing this bad behavior, it was actually too little.

They went on to say that men who really were actually "strong men" and strong women as well, don't abuse the weak and helpless, strong men and women strive to protect those who cannot defend themselves.
