Gas Prices

Oh I found it.

"f I can step out of my area for one -- for one second, I think the banana Republicans who are saying that what happened on January 6 was nothing or OK are undermining the basic credibility of our country's institutions.

“And that, in turn, feeds through for inflation, because if you can't trust the country's government, why should you trust its money?

"So I think it's terribly important that we take the temperature down in Washington, that we recognize behavior that's just out of bounds of reasonable and decency, we give the Fed the room it needs, we bring down the budget deficit, we take down prices directly through prescription drugs.

"This is a challenge that we can meet, if we're prepared to be serious about taking it on."

Yup. That be Larry blaming inflation on January 6 rioters. Glad to have been able to get a peek into that parallel universe of yours.

Larry's not perfect. He's said his share of stupid things and been wrong on various things. But I don't find anything exceptional in this statement.

Gas prices obviously aren’t high enough

Still too many bad drivers out there.

let me understand this right.

Biden is taking a hit for high gas prices.
Biden floats idea to lower gas prices
Same people fault Biden for floating an idea for lowering gas prices

There seems to be one constant here.

In this case it is not a particularly good idea.

There seems to be one constant here.

The constant here is an incoherence coming from Biden. You can’t tell me your top priority is fighting inflation, then ask Congress to pursue an inflationary policy. You can’t tell me global warming is an imminent threat, then ostensibly look for an increase in fossil fuel consumption.

(D) are getting what they want in the form of higher gas prices, they just refuse to own the political downside.

Tell me what else is on the table

Is there an official proposal ?

Or just random people saying random things

Via CBS:

Washington — President Joe Biden called on Congress Wednesday to suspend federal gasoline and diesel taxes for three months — an idea that's intended to ease financial pressures at the pump, but that also reveals the political toxicity of high gas prices in an election year.

He is also urging states to suspend their own gas taxes or provide similar relief, the White House said.

yes, lowering gas prices.

I am not for it or against it, I just haven't seen and am totally open to another solution

But haven't seen anyone with a seat at the table propose an alternative to Biden

What changed? Why should a solution to lower gas prices be on the table?

and alternative ideas ?

I have yet to see an official either / or

The price of crude has dropped $20 per barrel in the past ten days. Prices for refined product have started to drop. Patience grasshopper.

Is the alternative then to simply wait this out and expect the fossil fuel industry to do the right thing---

Crude has been low for months
