GDT 7/2: reds game 2

Maybe, but if the braves offer something like 25 for 1 year, I could see the Mets going like 3 for the same per year

Mets can for sure offer more money and years than we can. But it would be DeGrom's decision at the end of the day.

You'd have to think if we make another deep run in the playoffs, and Morton finishes out this year the way he did 2021, that McGuirk gives the go ahead to sign DeGrom short term high AAV. Maybe AA restructures the Morton option where Morton takes less money for '23 and gets a second option for '24 that if the Braves declined the '24 the buyout would simply cover the difference in '23.

Assuming we don't bring back Dansby, we'll have Smith, Jansen, Swanson, Duvall money coming off the books.

Just getting past Rosario's second year and Ozuna's last two seasons would be the only obstacle to overcome.

if Morton finishes the year, that makes it tough. You'd have Strider, Fried, Wright, Anderson, Morton, Soroka, and DeGrom if we got him for 5 spots lol. I guess you could trade Anderson for farm depth or a SS/bat to replace Dansby though provided he doesnt completely implode.

Anderson's value continues to diminish.

Unless a team like Oakland or KC think they can maximize him. Or Houston thinks they can fix him.

If Soroka is able to come back this year, Anderson might not finish the season in the rotation. Unlike Strider, he’s a two-pitch pitcher who’s stuff hasn’t been great; and, unlike Strider, I’m less confident in his further developing his third pitch.

Getting Mahle's PC up at the very very least. But if Duvall was benched, that may have cost us there.
