2022 MLB Draft Thread

It’s just impossible to judge an MLB draft for like 4 years at least. Preller is having a great night from our perspective because they’re ranked high and we know their names. But it will likely mean the rest of their top 10 round picks are weaker, and then who knows what anybody becomes.

I get that... but all we can do right now is evaluate on paper obviously

You're literally just assuming he has more projection because he's a couple inches taller. It's just as possible Murphy gets up to consistent mid-90s heat as it is that Ritchie gets up to the high-90s consistently—and it sounds like the latter is going to need that more, given his other FB characteristics.

Personally, I'm more excited by the reports about Murphy's spin-rates / efficiency than Ritchie's mediocre spin-rates, especially given Murphy's excellent command on top of that.

Its not just the height, it's the frame. Everywhere I've read seems to agree Ritchie has the frame to squeeze a few more MPH out of his fastball.

The big knock on Murphy is his small frame. If he had a bigger frame he probably isn't there at 20. But he sits 90-92 and there's a lot of questions about if he can squeeze anymore velocity out.

If Murphy adds 3 MPH then the sky's the limit. I love the depth of his arsenal and his control. But if his fastball is maxed out his ceiling is much, much lower.

One thing I love about both guys is both have plus command. Ive seen way too many Sean Newcombs.

TJS in April... Cole Phillips was one of the best RHP prep prospects before TJS... sits in the mid 90s and can hit triple digits (before TJS obviously)

I like it

Lot of stuff to dream on from these first three picks. But also the riskiest demographic in this draft - high school righties. But still fun!

There are a lot of questions? That you’ve found in the last hour?

Dana Brown said tonight they saw Murphy top out at 96.
