Sure he had some bad luck, but it wasn't all soft contact... Phillies hit 6 balls off him 90+. His location wasn't great. Max fried is elite, so I expect him to be elite every time, fair or not

And only 4 were over 95. I guess pitchers should never give up any hard contact over the course of a 100 pitches.

I get the gist but you clearly didn't watch the game. He was horrendously unlucky.
That play wasn't just bad luck. It defied the law of physics.

I saw this on Twitter last night... so yes, Max was almost entirely just unlucky:
His 0.46 FIP was the best of any of his 20 starts this season. His xFIP of 1.70 was the 2nd-best of the season, just behind the 1.69 he had in his 4/19 start vs the Dodgers (7 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 8 K).

We were quite literally the unluckiest team ever until the final two months and then October. The way I see it, we are still owed some.
