"Tesla earnings meet Q2 expectations, sells 75% of its Bitcoin

The company also says it sold 75% of its Bitcoin, turning it into fiat currency, adding $936 million in cash to its balance sheet. "

Up 34% now.

Still expect lower but always possible I'm wrong. I think once we hit the depression though everything will tank

Yeah - I'm expecting another major crash as well. All of this build up is based on nothing but happy feelings.

Probably as soon as the experts start assuring us it's not going to happen

I was hoping as the resident non-academic and non-elitist non-expert you might have something to share on this. But I guess this forecasting bidness is beneath your dignity.

Global macro economics is a complicate issue, as even you might expect.

I've been surprised frankly at long the system as held up... I would have thought a crash would have happened years ago. It's the main reason I decided to load up on bitcoin back in 2013/2014... (the smartest decision I've ever made, as measured in USD)

Zero interest rates, unlimited market liquidity, and endless spending and printing can only last so long. But our status as the world's reserve currency has probably also kept us afloat longer than our fundamentals should have.

All that said... I'd expect a major down turn in the next 2-5 years... There are so many market signals... and we haven't even begun to experience the real cost of food after this year's crop is harvested (cost of fertilizer and diesel fuel are crippling farmers).

But I've been wrong before and will be wrong again. It will happen at some point though. that's just the math of it.

I'll be more certain of it when the experts, media, nsacpi, and regime start assuring us it's not happening. They are already starting that in some ways

This is also why I'm certain climate change is not an actual issue... but a manufactured one

It is a complicated subject.

Care to offer your definition of a depression or "major downturn"?

At least Sam Bankman-Fried no longer has billions of dollars to fund (D) and their terrible policy ideas. Silver linings.

I'm in favor of anything that reduces the distortions caused to our polity by plutocrats of all ideological persuasions.
