2022 Trade Deadline

Last year the Soler and the Rodriguez deals were announced within about 10 minutes after the deadline passed. Wouldn’t be surprised to see something similar again

I bet part of the reason AA got so many OFers last year was because he had so many deals in progress they all just kind of went through on accident, and it was easier to just let them all happen then potentially anger fellow GMs.

I kind of wonder if AA simply looked at the state of the farm system and decided we couldn't afford to give up any prospects of value, so he was going to mostly sit out the trade deadline.

Like Scheff, i wish AA was a little more aggressive. But playing the long-game is okay with me. Preller going all the ****ing way in is crazy, basically gutted their system for a 3 year run.

Also, when you're one year removed from a World Series, you probably don't feel the same pressures that other GMs (well, probably Presidents of Baseball Operations these days) do.

He may not be there in 3 years if they don't start making the playoffs and actually getting past the 1st round. So while he certainly shortened their window (especially if they don't resign Soto), he also giving himself the best chance he can to keep his job a little while longer. It isn't always about the long game when you're a GM trying to keep your job.

Really playing with fire not adding another late inning arm. But maybe Yates can lock it down.

I wanted another BP arm but as of now we have Lee, Minter, Matzek, Yates when healthy, Jansen, McHugh, Chavez. That's not a bad backend of the pen.
