" Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion,
or prohibiting the free exercise thereof"
before arms, housing military personnel, unreasonable search and seizure,
double jeopardy, speedy trials etc etc etc
first thing they said in effect was "we" are not bound to Christianity or any prescribed dogma.
