Grissom and Yates Up

If Grissom kills it in this SSS, does Swanson contract get less likely?

It makes for a backup plan, but I personally don’t think it lessens Swanson’s chances of returning. I’m just spit balling here, but perhaps Grissom gets converted to outfield if Swanson returns.

There are serious questions about Grissom's range at SS. He's very talented and a good defender, but he'll probably stick at 2B or just play super utility. Swanson is a far superior SS.

Re: Swanson and Grissom

I don’t think Grissom lighting the world on fire needs to play an outsized role on the SS decision. Braves have long needed a do it all super utility type. Camargo was tried in that role and failed. Arcia exceeded expectations as infielder, but his inability to play the OF limited to being a backup infielder. Shewmake busted but he could have been an option.

If Grissom works out, that’s a huge asset going forward. Of course there is always going to be an injury so he will get plenty of playing time.

yeah a SS will still be needed IMO

If Grissom comes up and plays well and hits then I’d teach him to play OF all offseason long. But it does give AA a backup plan in case Dansby gets priced out of Atlanta.

Wow

We are going to have 3 super young rookies playing big roles.

vs RHP

Acuna RF
Swanson SS
Olson 1B
Riley 3B
Contreras C
Rosario LF
Ozuna DH
Grissom 2B
Harris CF

vs LHP

Grossman LF
Ozuna DH
Grissom 2B
Harris CF

Should bat Grissom ninth- he will get a little more protection from acuna, and Harris can steal more from 8th….

I agree, move Harris to 8th.. you would have super speed at 8/9/1/2 ... if those guys are able to get on base, then it will make it very hard on opposing pitching.

Plug in Ozzie for Ozuna in both lineups when healthy and we have a lineup with lots of upside and the base running will be insane.

Completely agree with Buzz here. Move Ozuna out of the lineup and let Ozzie DH for a few weeks then just rotate. Ozuna is just flailing away up there right now and looks completely lost. That would be the fastest lineup in baseball.

There’s no way we can realistically expect Grissom to succeed with 97 AA PAs under his belt. It’s just not something that happens in baseball.

I’m stoked to see this kid in action though.

Are you saying that the kid isn’t Juan Soto?

Are you saying that the kid isn’t Juan Soto?

Yes. I don't think folks fully appreciate what Soto did at such a young age.

Folks also aren't fully appreciating what Harris has done either, imo. If Grissom is suddenly a RHH Harris...even that would be highly unusual.

FG projects Grissom at .264/.324/.391 (almost exactly MLB average). That would be a good outcome for these next few weeks, and we should be very satisfied with such results.

I'm guessing he shows a little more power than that.
