Not to mention as I speculated before… there are probably decision tree charts/plans based on specific situations prepared before every game.

You don't just punt a 15.8% chance to win a game against the team that 3.5 games ahead of you in the standings. It's effectively a 2 game swing if you score 2 runs in bottom of the 9th. You have to play to win there. There is no excuse not to. You skip an entire round of the playoffs if we win the division.

Like others have mentioned. Worse case if Jansen, Minter etc hold them and one and Diaz shuts down the 9th he's effectively burnt for today or limited to 3 outs. Buck will for sure use him for 6 outs again today if he needs to.

Also... he's on a 22 inning scoreless streak. Even if he's a 0.50 ERA quality pitcher 1 out of 20 is gonna get him for an earned run. We needed one, earned or unearned to keep playing.
 
Snit was definitely still making these decisions.

He was answering questions at the post game presser like he was calling shots on the bullpen, so everyone in that room knew what was going on too.

I'm one of the last people to ever defend the way he handles pen decisions, but *amn - y'all even want to criticize him for the ones he DIDN'T have a say in.

In the weather business we still call 16% a slight chance of rain. If there’s still a slight chance of winning the game, I’m gonna maximize that chance. Didn’t have to be Jansen. Shouldn’t have been Stephens.

It’s still a 162 game marathon. Stephens has had a good year and if he does what’s expected of him were not even having this conversation. It was a big moment and they may have wanted to give Stephens an opportunity. There’s a lot of people competing for spots on that playoff bullpen.

They're always going to follow his lead - and MOST decisions will be what Weiss and the others think he'd do. And of course he was the one answering the questions during the press conference - when was the last time that Weiss/Kranitz/Seitzer/EY/Wash/Fasano had a presser?

Doesn't change the fact that folks around here stumble over themselves to *itch about EVERY move made - whether Snitker was the one controlling the lineup card or not.

We all understand that's what happens on internet message boards - still doesn't make it less funny when they do so without the Manager even being in the dugout.

That’s a poor cop out for one of the most important series in that 162 game season.
