Minor league thread

Seems like Malloy takes a little time to adjust to each level and then just goes off. Hopefully that K rate goes down a bit more.

I'm hoping they had him working on a 3rd pitch or something

Yes - 100% - they said they sent him down to work on change up and especially curveball. So he ain’t exactly trying to win or just gets outs smoking fbs by AAAA manure hitters….

Kevin Kilpatrick 4 for 5 tonight with an OPS of 1.116 thru 60 ab.

He’s definitely intriguing. K numbers aren’t crazy either. I think zbhargrove and others have mentioned it, but there’s a fun group that probably starts at Rome next year with Kilpatrick, Baldwin, McCabe and Alvarez.

As CJ9 says, very interesting prospect. I can never tell what goes into the draft calculus, but looking at Kilpatrick's JC and Summer League stats, the guy has hit wherever he's played. He had an extra year in junior college due to the cancelled COVID season and he had a commitment to play at the University of Houston if he hadn't signed. Curious to see which A-level team he starts at next season. I imagine a lot depends on where they place Morton and Paolini from this year's Augusta team and whether they have Williams and Jackson repeating the FCL.

Yeah, especially in the early going Nacho Alvarez looks really good! Great BB and K rates thus far in a small sample.

Javier Valdes could be a UT option in the next year or two. He was a Below average college UT player drafted as a C.

He crapped the bed in 21, but he is having a solid season between Rome and Miss. He could always draw a walk, but now he’s developed some power.

I’m not sure what other positions he could still play, but with using Contreras/TDA as a DH I think we could use a 3rd catcher with some versatility.

Wow - Considerable uptick in performance from last year. Wonder if any specific change were made to his swing.
