I have a feeling Grissom is going to be a super utility player that starts 4-5 days a week. Get him some time in the outfield so he can cover LF/RF and MI regularly. That skill set defensively and being an above average hitter would be awesome.

agree and disagree at the same time.

You are right. But why is it so hard for the Braves? Have we had a good LF since Ron Gant? Klesko hit for a time but was Ozuna/Gattis level in the field.

Grissom is a hitter. The exit velocities do worry me some, but he seems to have a swing angle that gets some balls out and hits some balls with back spin. He has struck out more than I thought and hit for more power than I thought.

Like I said with Harris, skipping AAA and having limited at bats in AA means those guys have seen very few MLB quality breaking pitches. Therefore I do expect them to improve dramatically next year.

I'm not sold, but I do think Grissom is going to be a high OBP hitter that you are happy with at the top of the line up. It would be better to keep him on the dirt. Maybe our team just fits better with him in the OF. I don't think they'll move Riley to LF or DH given that big deal they gave him.

Give 3b/2b/SS a day off once every two weeks and put in him LF 3-4 times a week.

He is our Chris Taylor but maybe a better hitter.

My top preference is to play him as a super utility guy who starts 5 times a week. I’m skeptical Snitker would deploy this correctly as it requires giving Riley, Ozzie and Dansby regular rest.

So if he’s not going to get regular starts on the infield, I would trade him and get back a different piece that fits a need better.

AA has to talk to him about getting these guys some rest throughout the season

I get this in theory, but it will never happen with Snit. Hope to be wrong, but I don't think so.

AA would have to tell him:

Day 1: Grissom 3B, Riley DH
Day 2: Grissom SS, Swanson/SS DH
Day 3: Grissom 2B, Albies DH
Day 4: Grissom DH
Day 5: Grissom 3B, Riley 1B, Olson DH
Day 6: Grissom LF, LF DH
Day 7: Grissom Rests
***Rest is an option for anyone listed as DH. Rest is required 1/60 days

Or whatever your preferred rotation is.

I can't see Snit just working him in.

Snit has shown beyond all doubt to be completely incapable of using the DH, platoons and/or a utility guy to regularly rest any player who isn't a catcher. Anyone thinking Grissom could be valuable in that role is 100% correct, but also 100% naïve.

Grissom either plays SS next year, learns LF, or starts the year at AAA. He simply can't be allowed to rot on the bench behind Riley/SS/Albies/Olson, which is precisely what Snit would do.

The Braves have had pretty good players over the years who played LF. It’s just not typically a position you commit to for a long period of time nor do you develop a prospect to play, so there aren’t many examples of the same guy who filled the role for multiple seasons.
