Mets series and Hurricane Ian

Approaching Buddy Hernandez Territory
There has been speculation the games could be moved which is bad for us. I wonder how MLB is going to handle it. Both teams have an off day Thursday and moving a game up makes a lot more sense than playing in Miami. This could throw a big monkey wrench into the last week of the season.

The path has projected to shift more east than originally thought. Being on the west side of a tropical system means a lot less rain.

Just posted this in the last game thread: Weather update. There continues to be an eastward shift in the track of Ian. Think we still have a cancel/delay risk in Saturday but the risk may be diminishing. The worst of the rain will probably be around late Friday night through midday Saturday. There’s a chance we could be okay.

Not to mention the simple logistics of getting the teams to Miami.

The storm isn't projected to hit anywhere near there, but will likely be taking up a ton of space in the area through which the participants would have to travel. It's not insurmountable...chartered planes can fly a wide berth around the storms...but still something to consider.

Knowing MLB they will probably move the series to New York and, in return, give the Braves an additional home series versus the Mets in 2026.

At this point altering the series location in any way or moving a game up are stupid ideas. Very high chance all 3 games will be played okay with maybe just a chance of a double header Sunday

Bearing down on Orlando - my brother has been locking everything down and digging trenches in the yard to help draw the water away all morning.

I assume MLB moves the games to NY based on their history of screwing us. These are ththe same people who gave the Nats a secret loan so they wouldnt have to reduce payroll.

Still cant see the Braves agree to giving up their 3 home games. Worst case, you have a double header on Sunday with the rain completely gone. And see what happens on Friday or Saturday if you can get one of those games in. Sunday should be absolutely fine for a doubleheader if you have to do that.

Friday shouldn’t be a problem at all. Still looks like the worst of the rain will be Saturday morning and afternoon. Still could see a Sunday double header

I still don’t understand why Thursday isn’t an option. It seems like it would be the surest day to get one in and better than a double header.

That could mess up pitching schedules as well as travel arrangements that are already made. I doubt the Mets would agree to going a day early.

Travel from Miami to Atlanta could be changed easily and it’s a lot less disruptive to pitching than a double header the day before another series or rain delayed games. It’s definitely less disruptive than moving games. It’s really the obvious solution.

With the pivotal three-game series slated to start Friday at Truist Park, the National League East rivals and MLB have discussed several options, according to multiple reports, including a split doubleheader on Sunday.

The teams have a mutual day off Thursday, but MLB is not considering starting the series a day early, according to MLB.com. Relocating the games to a neutral site also was not a serious consideration as of Wednesday morning, according to MLB.com.

……… A decision could come as early as Wednesday or as late as Friday morning, as MLB and the teams plan to wait as long as possible to monitor the hurricane's trajectory. The Mets play a home game Wednesday against the Marlins while the Braves complete their series in Washington against the Nationals before the teams' mutual day off.
