I dont think Dems will prevail here if for no other reason than they dont have a majority in the Supreme Court. Should fail imo based on constitutionality but I bet it goes down party lines. That's best case scenario for Biden imo. He can blame Republicans and use it as an issue to get the far left out to vote for his reelection telling them they just need 1 more justice to get it through the court.

I really hope this ruling is correct and stands up. If this is judicial overreach, not sure I like that even if it favors me this time. Do I want the answer to presidential overreact to be judicial overreach? Not sure about that when it could be a left leaning judge next time
 
Still curious if this killed other aspects of the EO like reducing how much a payment will be in the income based payment plan and the 20-year forgiveness part, which lets forbearance count toward forgiveness. This part could end up being huge for those that have massive student loans... just go on income base payment and end up paying very little of the principal before it's totally forgiven in 20 years

A recent survey by Savi and the Student Debt Crisis Center suggests that many student loan borrowers are not ready to resume payments in January. According to the survey, nearly 50% of borrowers say they would be unable to afford their student loan payments six months from now, and nearly 9 in 10 say they are concerned or very concerned that inflation will make it harder to afford student loan payments when they resume. Seventy-seven percent of respondents support extending the student loan payment pause beyond December 31.

“Student loan payments impact whether families can afford basic necessities from food to rent,” said Tobin Van Ostern, co-founder of Savi, in a statement. “We see this concern in the thousands of questions we receive from borrowers on a daily basis who are concerned about their ability to begin repaying student loans and how that process will work.”

I saw some survey recently that said 73% of recipients of the debt cancellation would be used for dining out more.

What is the endgame here? If they can't repay their debt at 3.7% unemployment, they are essentially saying they never will be able to

what does it say about the worthlessness of a college degree if the people who have them are too poor to pay off the loan?

why are we still giving out loans? isn't this proof it's a terrible investment?

Its the lefts investment in their propaganda system. For them its a very worthwhile investment and thats the issue.

They're adamant about running every kid in this country through their liberal indoctrination camps. This was never about helping out students. It's about lining banks and universities with even more money while buying votes from people by using the average American's dollars to do it.

How does one take out tens of thousands of dollars of debt, spend years in undergraduate and graduate courses pursuing degrees, and at the end say - “I have no plan on how to pay it back…**** it, I guess I just won’t pay.”

Debt forgiveness is a bad idea. But no one is stealing from the "working class." Every year there are large fiscal transfers from the college educated to those without college educations. Not that there is anything wrong with that.
