At this point I find it more likely AA trades for Kim from SD than signs Swanson or Correa. These deals for Turner/Xander makes me think Correa will get ~$300M and Swanson may approach $200M...which is ludicrous.
Guys like Iglesias and Andrus don't seem like clear upgrades over Arcia, so I don't see the need to bid on them unless their markets aren't driven up by the high end SS market.
It's not broken. Players are gonna make what they can. Some owners' philosophy is you get what you PAY for. The Braves will have to learn this the hard way or get legit ownership. No way Fried, Acuna or Albies re-sign here. Riley and Harris got to be saying we messed up by committing that long.
In a way it's nice to see MLB contracts going nuts again, but it sucks to see a "Top 5 Payroll" still puts the team $50M-$100M less than the real big boys.
Brewers are interested in a catcher upgrade. I wonder if we could work out a Contreras for Adams deal? I’d also wonder if we could make them take back Ozuna and we take back Yelich? But Yelich is under contract through 2029 so that’s probably not a good idea.

Fortunately we don't have to worry about those decisions until 2029 for Acuña, 2028 for Albies, and 2025 for Max.

Word is that Carlos Rodon wants a 7 year contract.....good pitcher, but with the injury pitcher, i'd be out.
Mets probably about to get him for 7-years, 245 million or something
The most amusing Mets drama will be in 3 years when Cohen loses interest in his pet project and stops pumping unlimited cash into payroll. The resulting fire sale is going to be an epic meltdown.

Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports that Swanson and the Braves “haven’t had any legit negotiations since the offseason began.” Atlanta’s most recent offer to Swanson was a six-year deal in the $16-17MM range annually, per Bowman, which aligns with last month’s reports that the Braves had offered Swanson a deal in the vicinity of $100MM.
It's not like they sold out every game last season....Braves actually out drew them by a little over 5k fans per game.
At some point, its going to not make financial sense to have that kind of payroll.
