Both have to get hits, just to clarify.

Both players must get a hit and have an official at bat if I remember correctly. So basically you have Trout and BJ Upton let's say. BJ goes 0-19 in a game and Trout goes 1-4. Your streak does not increase or you go back to zero.

If a guy doesn't have an official at bat I believe your streak doesn't change based on that single guy. Additionally watch oit for double headers as both games a player must record a hit in order to extend your streak.

A sac fly will end it for you. I think that is the only 0-0 you can have and not move on.
