Official official offseason thread

Snit has shown zero capability of properly resting and benching guys to manage their workloads.

It's always funny when people hypothesize getting these bench players when they would never be used properly.

Still plenty of opportunities to get better. I don’t think this is a typical market like in the past where you can wait until late January.

The reason I like Elvis Andrus is because he a veteran. Orlando Arcia is not going to help Grissom to develop.

We had Morton helping Wright and Donaldson helping Riley.

Feels like we are waiting out musical chairs. Maybe he feels like there won’t be any room and he can add some guys for cheap.

Anderson, grossman, duvall, profar etc.

I hope not. Still feel we need an impact bat.

I don’t like andrus unless you plan on Grissom playing in aaa. Just not room.

13 position players. 8 guys. Tda as back up catcher. Grissom/arcia not starting. Rosario/Ozuna not starting. Only two spots and you need a dh.

Wash will help him develop. How much did dansby improve with wash? And he didn’t have some old man as his caddy.

If you can move ozuna for Crawford then I’d think about it. But that’s bc I hate ozuna, not bc I love Crawford.

I’m just not seeing Grissom hitting enough for lf. If he’s not ss or lf then he’ll have to exceed mybhitting expectations to be a good starter .

Orioles would be a place to look too. I think they need pitching and have a million ss prospects. Not one of the top guys but maybe you can get an Ortiz for an elder or shuster. Not sure if I’d do that deal bc all I know on Ortiz is what mlb.com says (great fielder probably can’t hit). But point is we might match up with orioles if the idea is get a better defender at ss and keep costs down.

I think Crawford fits fully into the Giants' plans this year. Don't see them helping a fellow pennant contender out like that.

Giants and Padres are gonna do whatever they can to try and get past LA.

It to the Giants almost a full season of outperforming everything to do it last time. Padres are just hoping they can get within striking distance.

LA is in an interesting position. They let both Turner's go. They haven't really upgraded anything. But yet they'll still probably win 100 games.

Crawford is a clubhouse leader. I really doubt Giants are going to trade him just to dump that contract. The only way they trade him is for prospects.

Soler for sorryio is intriguing but even the money saved wouldn’t be enough for the fish to do that.

Actually, I'd be willing to bet we would be the ones unwilling to do that deal. Soler's deal is a good bit worse. If we're adding money, it's probably for a player that's a better bet to be a big contributor.

This has been a very strange offseason so far. AA's big move was to upgrade a position that was already strong, and it's been crickets for the positions of clear need.

I feel like Conforto pretty much has to happen at this point. He's the only real upgrade remaining. Hopefully that doesn't mean AA gives him too many years like he did with Ozuna and Rosario.

It seems like AA has the mindset of "if you can't improve positions of need, get better players at the positions where you don't have an urgent need." Although I still feel like this move was made more for 2024-2025 than for the upcoming season.
