Official official offseason thread

For years Wright exuded a level of mediocrity that drove even his most ardent supporters crazy. Whatever light bulb came on doesn't seem to be a flickering one...the Braves have something. I like Reynolds a lot but I'm hesitant to want to include Wright and whatever slim pickings are left from the Braves stock in a trade at this point. That deal if it were to happen is going to tear this unified board apart. /s

Right now today, there are several players on the Braves roster that have to be considered untouchable. Wright is one of those.

We could sign Bauer and then use Wright in a Reynolds trade.

To hell with it, go for broke.

Sign Bauer.
Use Wright/Grissom for Reynolds
Sign Correa

Acuna RF
Correa SS
Riley 3B
Olson 1B
Reynolds LF
Murphy C
Albies 2B
Ozuna DH
Harris II CF

Fried, Bauer, Strider, Morton, Soroka/Anderson/Elder

Interesting comparison between Wright and Anderson. I would say with wright we were saying "The stuff is there, why isn't he better." With Anderson we were saying "He doesn't seem to have the stuff. How is he effective anyway?"

Those are very different situations. The danger of a big regression seems much lower for Wright, while it seemed almost expected for Anderson.

Nope and I’d move him before he regresses. We were saying the same thing about Ian after his first season. Now he holds very little value. If you can get a better player in return who is more proven, do it.
There's a chance of regression with any player. Those two stories aren't similar.

Wright's 2022 wasn't smoke and mirrors. His numbers were legit and matched his stuff.

Anderson's effectiveness was always held together with a lick and a promise.

Wright isn't untouchable but his pricetag should be high. He's a good bet to build on his 2022 and not a big risk for regression.

I’d hold onto Wright. Even if you think he’s a candidate for regression, we have a need for cheap controllable starting pitching especially with Morton and possibly Fried out the door the next couple years.

I’m also not that inclined to trade Anderson unless a team values him as a #4 pitcher. He’s decent bet to bounce back and would help us avoid a situation where we have to sign a Smyly/Odorizzi type.

You and Chop are spot on. Wasn't Wright top 10 Cy Young? If he duplicates that we will all be happy. The 21 wins aren't bad either. I think it's moot to even think the Braves are interested in trading him in the first place. But it's good to see that expectations seem to be reasonable with him.

The only posible way I see this trade is if Pirates take Ozuna contract.

Wright and Ozuna +

Then you have a great lineup with a bad rotation in a few years.
