Official official offseason thread

I would definitely be good with trading Max next year if we can replace his production and I’m definitely good with letting Max walk and not committing big money to him. I think he’s going to be a guy who just loses it, no steady regression.

Next year would be the offseason to replace him. The FA SP is loaded.

Agreed and as others said. We can evaluate our unknowns. I am waiting for a prediction thread to pop up. But one of my bold ones will be Soroka will be extended to a multi year contract with a very team friendly deal. And he will be mostly healthy all year living up to his maple Maddux nickname.

Careful, those are triggering words for some on here. Strider, Wright, Soroka and Anderson all have something to prove this year. If they all prove out, Morton's money can be used elsewhere and Fried can be turned into future assets. If not, I still think you see Fried dealt and Morton's money used elsewhere, but it is probably on middle of the road starting pitching.

Permitting Fried to walk for only draft pick compensation after watching Freeman and Swanson walk for the same, would be a major disappointment in my mind.

I think it's acceptable considering they will have a WS chance. They should pivot to trade at the deadline of it goes way south. But that would be hard to imagine with expanded wild cards.

The Braves are going to take 2 more shots at a title with Fried, and then he is likely gone as a FA. And like South just said, it's highly unlikely they fall out of the race by the 2024 deadline, but if they do it's a no-brainer to trade him at that point. Considering the Braves are likely to be over the luxury tax threshold, the draft pick will be after the 4th round...which is close to useless.

No question you take 2 shots at winning the WS with Fried. Only way you trade him next winter is if Preller just offers the world for him. Not likely.

MLBTR saying exactly what I said about Rosario a year ago...a terrible deal the moment it was signed

Braves
1:07 Have you seen the current projections for Eddie Rosario, and do you buy them? They seem to suggest he will be the worst player in the league by a lot, but the Braves seem to still have faith in his value
Steve Adams
1:09 Those are impacted by last year's struggles, which are going to factor prominently into any projection. It's also worth pointing out that Rosario just hasn't been a very good player since around 2018.

Braves fans fell in love with him, I'm sure, with that prodigious hot streak following the 2021 trade deadline, but Rosario has been an average (at best) bat with poor defense for years now.

I was surprised they re-signed him at two years and $18MM.

I'm probably not quite as bearish as Steamer (.240/.288/.397) and some other projection systems on him, but I don't have tons of optimism about a rebound, either.

I don't understand why Atlanta wouldn't have been able to offer a deal to Duvall or Pollock for 1/7.
A. Payroll flexibility at the deadline
B. Happy with LF (ugh)
C. No money
D. Waiting to see what's available for a cheaper deal than 7 million?
E. All of the above.
F. Sigh. Hell if I know!
