Boy the NFC south is going to be a dumpster fire. As Falcons, Saints, and Bucs are all in rebuilding mode. And I think the Falcons and Saints are on the upswing, but aren't there yet. Panthers should be good by now but their FO is a joke. Carolina's last season about 20 in DVOA was 2018. They're had 3 top 10 picks in a row and no signs of turning things around. Their cap situation is terrible from paying a lot of money to guys like DJ Moore, Taylor Moton and Shaq Thompson. None of them are bad players, but none of them IMO are 25M players. I think they could have done better trading Moore for picks, Trading Thompson for picks, etc. and actually rebuilding.
Panthers are likely to finally get their high pick QB this year, with Levis being the one I see most commonly projected there. But they could be in a rough spot and have to trade up.
Atlanta meanwhile has a ton of cap room. Which could lead to them being the team to make the quick turnaround. If they sign Jimmy G or Lamar to get an NFL ready QB now, and draft a lineman and keep Lindstrom, they'll be in a pretty good spot. Strong OL and DL picks coupled with some later in the draft WR and other depth picks could turn the falcons into a 10 win team.
But yeah the rest of the NFC South is in big trouble, PAnthers are just over the cap (5M) and the Bucs and Saints are the 2 teams most over the cap (Bucs at like 60 Mil over cap and Saints at like 30 mil over cap)
What's worse is the saints aren't even in a great position to cut players. The constant restructuring they've been doing has come due and now they're paying a lot of guys a lot of money. My hunch is there will be a lot of post June 1st trades and cuts in New Orleans. Cam Jordan, Lattimore, etc. cause then they can spread the cap hit out. Like the Falcons did with Ryan.
